A good cream works better than any face oil

We’ve studied a lot of natural brands and their ingredients list and wonder why so many of them just sell oils. Don’t get us wrong we love us some of that silky stuff especially during our driest times of year like long winter nights.  However there is a lot of misinformation out there from people who sell them as the be all end all skin solution for people who want natural. While oils feel like they are making you moist, oils are not hydrating. Water is. Your skin is made up of about 70% water, only 7% oil. So if your skin is dry or dehydrated, it usually needs more water, not oil!

Putting oils on your skin every day will never fix the issue. Dryness is a water issue. You need to put water on your skin and keep it there for your skin to drink up. This is why you need a great cream. A great cream is made up of water, oils and butters as emollients, active vitamins or minerals your skin can use, and an emulsifier to keep it all together and prevent it from evaporating. It is the daily use of a water-based cream that will re-hydrate your skin and keep cells plump and revitalized. Using an oil will just replace that 7% of skin cell sebum that you may not even be missing, and most of those oils will not penetrate to the stratum corneum layer..

So bottom line, oils are a wonderful addition, but should not be solely used for skin care. And even more importantly stay away from oils that have added essential oils in them, as they are very harsh on the face. Use a dry oil like squalane, the best anti-aging oil available on top of your favorite water based cream like our Rehydration, and you’ll look like you’ve been on a long and relaxing get-away even if you were home all weekend.
