Sea kelp bioferment
Hopefully you’ve all heard of sea kelp bioferment by now, as it is one of the century’s big cosmetic industry finds. Sea Kelp is a highly sustainable type of algae that can grow up to hundreds of feet long. La Mer was one of the first companies to make it popular by using it as the base of their miracle broth. When it was found to work really well for anti-aging, a few other brands followed suit, but only a very few because it’s a very expensive ingredient. Hence La Mer’s $300 an ounce price tag.
We wanted to use sea kelp bioferment in our line keeping it clean, natural, and organic when possible. (Although a great splurge if you have the money, La Mer is the opposite of natural!) We also wanted to use more select ingredients and didn’t want any essential oils in our products. Imaging if La Mer and Osea had a love child, it would be Oceanica. We love them both, but La Mer is not living an au naturel life like us, and Osea uses a lot of essential oils, while we don’t believe in using them on your face. Ever.
Ordinary sea kelp is an amazing ingredient. But ours contains a complete nutrient mix obtained from fermentation of kelp-based antioxidants. This nutrient rich formula is added to our Rehydration Cream to help moisturize the skin while reducing redness and irritation. The fermentation allows the kelp deeper penetration to active skin cells. Think of it like kombucha for your skin.
We believe in slow beauty, and also want to make our creams fresh, so if it is sold out on our website, we are waiting for enough people to ask for it before we make it again. Add your email to our waiting list to be notified when a fresh new batch is available. Staying on our email list also means you’ll get access to products not available on our website. We save those products strictly for our sister sea sirens.
Also, if you just want to dip your toe into our ocean based brand rather than completely diving in, we do have a small travel size available. It makes a great gift if you want your sister or mom to try it too!
