What is the perfect daily routine for my skin?
There isn’t one. Is there anything that you must do to protect your skin from the harsh environment and aging? Of course! But it depends on your genes, where you live, what your hobbies are, and what your skin needs in particular. You need to think about the specific obstacles to skin health that you ace every day. Do you live in a polluted city? Then use antioxidants. Do you spend time in the sun? Then always use sunscreen, as sunlight is the biggest ager. Most importantly, find a schedule that will make it easy for you to remember what to do. It doesn’t have to be every morning do this, and every night do that.
It is always a good idea to cleanse your skin before you apply a product, because whatever dirt that has accumulated during the day needs to be removed. But please don’t try to remove what should not be removed. Your skin is not a wall to scrub clean, but a living organ. Go too far with exfoliation and you will be damaging the skin barrier.
TONERS VS. VITAMIN MISTS
It used to be an alcohol/water solution used to remove any traces of sebum in order to make you think that your skin was “clean”. The alcohol would dry your skin and tighten it, making you think that the toner was doing it’s job. In reality, alcohol is just stripping your skin. In reality toner should bring your skin back to a pH of about 5.5. But if you wash with a pH balanced cleanser instead of soap, then your skin is already at the right pH and you don’t really need a typical toner. Instead you can use a vitamin mist to add vitamins to your skin that might not be in your cream.
HORMONES, EMOTIONS, TIME ZONES
Most people know that moisturizing is the key to younger and healthier looking skin. You should moisturize as often as your skin needs. This can change with seasons, hormones, emotions, time zones, environment, diet or stress. There are days when I have to moisturize 3 or 4 times a day and there are days when I don’t have to moisturize at all.
And don’t forget you can layer one cream on top of another to get the nutrients in each cream. No rule says you must choose one cream and hope it is the be-all-end-all to make your fairy tale skin come true. We’ve layered our Brightening Cream, and Rehydration Cream on top of each other. We LOVED the results and the way our skin felt soft and renewed in the morning.
Have fun with your beauty routine and be happy. That is the perfect routine for your skin.
